Overview

Provide a durable and hardwearing surface with an anti-slip finish on your steps and ramps. Ideal for use on interior and exterior surfaces including concrete, wood, tarmac, stone, brickwork, and suitably prepared metal. Coo-Var Anti Slip Step and Ramp Paints are formulated to be fast drying and give a modern matt finish, available in a range of colours to suit your decorating needs. This water-based, hardwearing floor paint is easy to apply and creates a low slip-risk surface in dry and wet conditions.

This product has been independently tested and has a PTV rating of 68 in dry conditions and 58 in wet. UK law recommends on a minimum Pendulum Test Value on floors of 36 dry, wet, or contaminated.

Preparation

All surfaces should be clean, dry, and sound ensure to thoroughly sweep the floor to remove any debris.

  • Concrete surfaces including power floated, granolithic and smooth surfaces should be abraded to create a key. Either sand the surface or use to prepare the surface.
  • New concrete must be allowed to cure for 3 months prior to the use of this paint.
  • Other surfaces such as metal and tarmac have to be prepared and primed with the suitable primer for that substrate.
  • Previously painted surfaces should be cleaned, degreased, and sanded to create a key.
  • Remove all loose and flaking material to leave a smooth surface.
  • Treat any knots or staining with an appropriate stain blocker.

Application

In confined spaces, provide adequate ventilation during application and drying. Do not paint when the temperature will be at or below 7°C during the painting and drying process.

  • We recommend always performing a test on the surface to be painted to ensure you are happy with the finished results.
  • Mix well before application, and apply using a brush or roller.
  • Recoat in 6 hours, and apply as many coats as required.
  • Hard dry in 4 hours, it will achieve full hardness in 5-7 days.
